Vinyl-a-Day 51: John Harrison - “Day of the Dead: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” (Saturn Records, 1985)

John Harrison - “Day of the Dead: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” (Saturn Records, 1985)

The original, 1985 “Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.” It is not the complete cues which were later released on CD and subsequent vinyl reissues but it’s an interesting piece of memorabilia featuring some of the film’s most memorable themes with some pop/vocal treatments of some tracks rounding out the rest. Though not as revered as Goblin’s “Dawn of the Dead” soundtrack, it should be; fear-inducing brooding synth with Caribbean undertones - what’s not to love? One of the best horror soundtracks of the 80s, hands down. Romero knew how to pick his composers, that’s for sure!
